You on the outside: your personal colour and style assessment
Every woman can do three important things to make sure she looks her best, whatever her age and whatever her figure is like now:
- Dress in colours that really suit you
- Wear styles that positively suit your natural body shape and proportions
- Wear clothes that reflect your own personality – that “feel like you”.
Your colour analysis:

Your own natural colouring characteristics are determined by your skin, hair and eye colours. Wearing colours that share the same colour characteristics as your own will harmonise with you and be the most flattering. The benefits wearing the correct colours are:
- looking more alive, energised and youthful
- feeling more confident when you get dressed
- saving time and money when you go shopping for clothes
You will learn how to build a more cost-effective and exciting wardrobe and will be able to put together more outfits with less garments. You will learn how to avoid expensive shopping mistakes. Getting dressed will be quicker and more fun – and you’ll feel more confident choosing flattering and appropriate outfits for any occasion.
How is it done?
Your natural colour characteristics are determined by a process of draping different specific colours across your upper body – and seeing the effect on your face. (Many people buy clothes because they think “it goes well with my eyes” – and you’ll learn why that can be misleading). I’ll show you which colours work best for you and are most flattering – and you’ll see for yourself why certain colours just aren’t that flattering on you (no matter how much you may like them!). I’ll give you a wallet of personalised colour swatches that you can use when shopping and written advice on how to use your colours to best effect.
What else happens?
A consultation takes about 1½ hours and is an enjoyable, relaxing event. It is tailored to your specific needs – your lifestyle, shopping habits, clothing budget and any other particular image issues. I’ll show you how to put together different colour combinations successfully – for any occasion (e.g. formal business presentations, casual wear and evening wear). Accessories and jewellery are discussed as well as hair colour and makeup. A makeup demonstration can also be included, if desired.
Your style analysis:
Nearly all women like to know they look good. Regardless of clothing budgets or interest in “fashion”, we all like to dress in a way that projects our own personality and our own sense of style. This makes us feel more confident and aligned with who we are.
However, it’s easy to get into a rut with our appearance as we get older. Some women end up playing it a bit safe, whereas others might go a bit too far in trying to compensate for something she thinks she is now lacking. And, of course, lot of middle aged and older women dread the thought of looking like mutton dressed as lamb!
Interestingly, being “made over by a stylist” (like you see on TV) can certainly make some women look better, but they often end up dressing in the stylist’s taste and not her own. If you are really not yourself, then it simply won’t feel right and it won’t be sustainable.
I work with your own natural assets and your style preferences, personality and aspirations. You’ll learn:
- how to use clothes to enhance your best features
- how to take the attention away from any problem areas
- how to work with your proportions and look as tall and slim as possible
- to feel confident enough to develop your own natural, personal style
- how to be a savvy shopper and how to stop wasting money on clothes you don’t wear
Consultations can be either 1:1 or in small groups (where it is fun to learn from each other). I can also help you sort out what works in your current wardrobe (and weed out what doesn’t!). I can take you shopping to show you how to put your new found knowledge into practice and teach how to be your own style and shopping expert in future.
